Realme C3 teasers have revealed the presence of waterdrop-style notch on the phone
Realme C3 is all set to join the Chinese smartphone maker's Realme C-series of smartphones in India. This lineup caters to the entry-level consumers and brings a decent set of specifications that are claimed to provide good experience. Both of the existing Realme C-series phones have found a place in one or the other of our best phones lists over the last year. Even right now, Realme C2 is one of the best options that we recommend buying under Rs. 7,000.
Realme C3 launch date
Realme has announced that it will be launching the Realme C3 the country on February 6. The company is hosting a press event in New Delhi that will kick off at 12:30pm on the day. The company will likely be live streaming it on social media channels as well as YouTube. As always, we will be present at the launch event to bring you all the information.
Realme C3 price in India
Given we are still days away from the Realme C3 launch, the company hasn't given a hint about the pricing. Though it is certain to be an entry-level smartphone like its predecessors. To recall, Realme C1 was priced at Rs. 6999, whereas Realme C2 got a price tag of Rs. 5,999 for the 2GB RAM variant and Rs. 7,999 for the 3GB RAM variant. The Realme C3 pricing should also be in this range.
In terms of the sales channels, Flipkart is already teasing the smartphone, so it will be one of the e-retailers to carry the phone. Also, we know Realme sells all of its phones through its own website, so we can expect to see Realme C3 there as well. Lastly, as Realme has just started offering five of its phones via Amazon in India, the e-retail giant could also offer the Realme C3 but there is no confirmation on that. Additionally, Realme will also retail the upcoming phone via its offline partners.
Realme C3 specifications
Realme has already announced a number of Realme C3 specifications, so we won't have to wait until February 6 to get an idea of what to expect from the smartphone. As per the teaser page of Flipkart, the phone will feature a 6.5-inch display with a waterdrop-style notch and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The phone is going to have 89.8 percent screen-to-body ratio.

Sony is expected to announce the Xperia 5 Plus on February 24 at MWC 2020
Sony will be hosting an event at this year's MWC on February 24 in Barcelona, where the company is expected to unveil its latest flagship smartphone the Xperia 5 Plus, which is also being referred to as the Xperia 1.1. Now, a new report by a Japanese publication claims that this upcoming Xperia flagship will be packing dual-front stereo speakers and a total of five cameras at the back, out of which one of the lenses will be a periscope unit.
According to the report by Android Next, the Sony Xperia 5 Plus or the Xperia 1.1 will reportedly pack five rear cameras. If this information is to be believed then the rear camera setup will be as follows — a 12-megapixel primary camera with a 1/1.5” sensor size, a 64-megapixel camera with a 1/1.7-inch sensor size, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with a 1/3.4-inch sensor size, a 2-megapixel Time-of-Flight camera, and finally a periscope unit with OIS.
Now, the newly leaked image falls perfectly in line with renders of the Xperia 5 Plus that were first leaked as a CAD-based 360-degree video courtesy of @OnLeaks in collaboration with @Slashleaks. This leak surfaced earlier this month, and at the time it was speculated that the phone will pack a triple-camera setup at the back along with a separate Time-of-Flight camera for depth mapping.
Apart from all this, the upcoming 5 PlSony Xperiaus flagship or whatever Sony decides to name it, is rumoured to feature a tall 6.6-inch OLED display, a Snapdragon 865 SoC and 5G connectivity to name a few. But this is all speculation at this point, and we'll have to wait for Sony's event MWC to find out about the final thing.
Moto G Stylus Spotted on Geekbench, Live Photos and Specifications Leaked
Moto G Stylus is expected to launch at MWC 2020 this year
Moto G Stylus has appeared on Geekbench and live photos have also cropped up online, giving us more information on key specifications and design details. To recall, the rumoured Moto G Stylus is the company's upcoming phone with stylus support, its first such smartphone, and it is expected to launch at MWC alongside new models in the Moto G8 series. To recall, while there as some confusion whether the new Motorola phone would be called the Motorola Edge+ earlier, recent reports have pointed to it being called the Moto G Stylus.
The fresh Geekbench listing of the Moto G Stylus suggests that the phone may run on Android 10 and pack 4GB of RAM. The phone is listed to run on a 1.8GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC as well. The phone has achieved a single-core score of 311, and a multi-core score of 1,316. The listing also mentions the motherboard codenamed to be sofiap, something that was mentioned by XDA Developer's MishaalRahman as well. He spotted the Moto G Stylus on FCC with the same codename, and claims that the Moto G Stylus is a variant of the Moto G8 Power, which has been codenamed sofiar.
The live photos leaks are country Twitter user Gustavo Gonzalez, WISE unbox tech and https://wise11.blogspot.com/?m=1. The images show the Moto G Stylus sporting a hole-punch display with the cut out placed on the upper left corner of the screen, thin bezels on all sides of the display, and a slight chin at the bottom. The stylus also spotted in the photos, and it is seen to sport two physical buttons.
At the back, the Moto G Stylus is seen to sport a multitude of cameras, and it reportedly will include a 48-megapixel camera, a 117-degree wide-angle action camera. The sensors are positioned vertically on the upper left corner of the back panel, and a rear fingerprint sensor is also spotted. Key specifications are also leaked by 91Mobiles, and the report says that the Moto G Stylus could feature a 6.3-inch or 6.4-inch full-HD+ display, a Snapdragon 6-series processor, 4GB RAM, 128GB storage, and a 4,000mAh battery with fast charge support. The storage should be further expandable via a microSD card.
Gadgets 360 recently spotted the Moto G Stylus on the Canada certification site as well, with model number XT2043-4. As mentioned, the Moto G Stylus should launch alongside the Moto G8 series at MWC 2020.
Xiaomi Mi TV 4X 55 ‘2020 Edition’ Review
This is the fourth TV in the Mi TV 4X range to be launched in India
Xiaomi's successful entry into the affordable television segment in India has sparked quite the movement among brands and buyers. It's opened the doors for various television manufacturers - both domestic and from abroad - to launch affordable, big-screen televisions in India; and you might it not even have heard of many of these brands before. However, Xiaomi naturally benefits by being the leader in the smartphone market India, with a widely recognised name.
Xiaomi recently launched a new 55-inch model in its popular Mi TV 4X range, joining the existing 43 inch, 50 inch, and 55inch at a Priced. 34,999, the Mi TV 4X features a 55-inch 4K HDR LED screen. Is it as impressive a value proposition as its siblings, or should you stick to the 50-inch option and save some money? Find out in our review.
Xiaomi Mi TV 4X 55 design and specifications
The Mi TV 4X range is affordable, and these TVs come with very few bells and whistles. While the specifications sheet of the new Mi TV 4X 55 remains impressive for the price, this television is rather ordinary when it comes to design and styling. Much like the Mi TV 4X 50, the 55-inch version sticks to the absolute basics when it comes to design.
The 55-inch screen means that it's big, of course, and it looks rather imposing. The module under the Mi logo looks a bit different compared to the one on the 50-inch model – it's flatter and less noticeable. You also get a grey frame and borders around the screen rather than the black we saw on the Mi TV 4X 50; this looks interesting and gives the television a unique look compared to most of the options you'd typically get at this price. Oddly, Xiaomi's product listings on its own website as well as third-party ones describe the colour as black, just like its siblings.
The TV has the same ports and layout as the Mi TV 4X 50, with three HDMI ports (one with ARC), two USB 2.0 ports, and an antenna socket facing to the right. A nook at the back has the rest of the ports and sockets, which face downwards. These include the AV inputs, an Ethernet port, and S/PDIF. The specifications sheet on Xiaomi's website mentioned an earphone output, but this isn't actually present on the TV. Xiaomi confirmed to Gadgets 360 that this was an error after we pointed it out, and the listing has now been rectified. You can use the S/PDIF port to connect wired headphones, but you'll need a DAC or other intermediary equipment for this to work. The TV is Wi-Fi enabled of course, giving you easy access to online content.
The Mi TV 4X 55 weighs 12.7kg without the base stands, which is quite light for a 55-inch television. The stands are attached near the edges, so if you intend to place the television on a table-top or TV stand, you'll need a wide enough space. If you intend to wall-mount the TV, the Mi TV 4X 55 uses standard VESA 300x300mm brackets. When wall-mounted, the ports were quite hard to access, so we'd suggest that you connect all devices and wires before you mount the TV.
The rest of the specifications are also fairly basic; the TV has a 55-inch 4K (3840x2160-pixel) LED screen, with a standard refresh rate of 60Hz and support for 10-bit HDR formats. The television is powered by an Amlogic A53 processor, and has 2GB RAM and 8GB storage for apps. You get 20W of sound output, and various Dolby and DTS sound formats are supported. External audio connectivity works through HDMI-ARC and Bluetooth, apart from S/PDIF.
Xiaomi Mi TV 4X 55 remote and features
The Mi TV 4X 55 is a smart television. It supports HDMI-CEC, and like other Android TV models, has built-in Chromecast functionality for screen casting from compatible devices. The sales package contains the television itself, the base stands, some manuals, and the remote.
Like the rest of the Mi TV 4X series, the Mi TV 4X 55 comes with the Mi Bluetooth Remote, which lets users directly access Google Assistant. We've already spoken about our issues with this remote, including the lack of useful buttons, poor responsiveness, and the fact that batteries for it aren't even included in the sales package. You can read about this in more detail in our review of the Mi TV 4X 50, right here. It's therefore a bit disappointing that Xiaomi hasn't worked on improving the remote with its ‘2020 Edition' television model.
Xiaomi Mi TV 4X 55 software and interface
As with the rest of the Mi TV 4X range, the 55-inch variant runs on Android TV 9 Pie with PatchWall UI 2.0 on top as an optional launcher. You do also have the option to use the stock Android TV launcher, with both having their pros and cons. Although PatchWall does put curated content within easy reach, Android TV is cleaner and easier to navigate. Unfortunately though, Xiaomi still does not have a ‘standby' mode for when the TV is not in use; turning it on will take a minute or so every time.
We've already explored the key aspects of Android TV and PatchWall 2.0 on the Mi TV 4X range, which you can read about in our review of the 50-inch model. All popular apps and streaming services are supported, and PatchWall, while random, has something for everyone.
In general, the software is familiar and easy to use, but felt a bit sluggish. It doesn't seem to play very well with the hardware - we found it slow to respond to commands from the remote, and waiting and loading times were longer than we're used to seeing on TVs in this price range. The interface doesn't give users too many options for customising and tweaking the picture and sound settings either. It remains acceptable for the price, but you do need a bit of patience to be able to use the smart interface on the Mi TV 4X 55.
Amazon-Owned Ring App Sending User Data to Third Parties: EFF
Amazon bought Ring in 2018 that sells a range of home security cameras as well as doorbells
The US-based digital rights group the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) has found that Amazon-owned Ring doorbell app is "packed" with third-party tracking, sending out a plethora of customers' personally identifiable information.
An investigation of the Ring doorbell app for Android discovered that four main analytics and marketing companies - including Facebook and Google -- were receiving information such as the names, private IP addresses, mobile network carriers, persistent identifiers, and sensor data on the devices of paying customers.
"Not only does Ring mismanage consumer data, but it also intentionally hands over that data to trackers and data miners," the EFF said in a release late Tuesday.
"Ring claims to prioritize the security and privacy of its customers, yet time and again we've seen these claims not only fall short, but harm the customers and community members who engage with Ring's surveillance system," said the non-profit group.
In a statement to Gizmodo, the Amazon-owned home security and smart home company said it limited the amount of data it shared.
"Like many companies, Ring uses third-party service providers to evaluate the use of our mobile app, which helps us improve features, optimise the customer experience and evaluate the effectiveness of our marketing," the company said.
In November 2019, Amazon rolled out a security patch for its Ring Video Doorbell Pro after Bitdefender security researchers found that it was exposing Wi-Fi network credentials, thus, allowing nearby attackers to intercept them and compromise the household network.
Security researchers from Bitdefender said the Amazon-owned doorbell was sending owners' Wi-Fi passwords in cleartext as the doorbell joins the local network, thus, allowing nearby hackers to intercept the Wi-Fi password and gain access to the network to launch larger attacks or conduct surveillance.
The EFF said that Ring has exhibited a pattern of behaviour that attempts to mitigate exposure to criticism and scrutiny while benefiting from the wide array of customer data available to them.
"Our testing, using Ring for Android version 3.21.1, revealed PII (personally identifiable information) delivery to branch.io, mixpanel.com, appsflyer.com and facebook.com. Ring also sends information to the Google-owned crash logging service Crashalytics. The exact extent of data sharing with this service is yet to be determined," said the group.
The group has in the past alerted about the mismanagement of user information which has led to data breaches.
