iQoo 3 With Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC Coming to India Soon, Flipkart and iQoo.com to Carry the Smartphone

iQoo 3 is set to launch in India soon, the brand revealed in a press note on Thursday. The brand, which had announced its arrival in the country last month, also revealed the name of the phone. Additionally, it mentioned that the iQoo 3 would be available for purchase in the Indian market through Flipkart and the dedicated iQoo website later this month. The iQoo 3 is also scheduled to arrive in China on February 25. The smartphone is projected as a premium offering to compete with the flagships of OnePlus, Huawei, and Xiaomi.
Touted to debut with a distinct proposition in the premium smartphone segment, the iqoo 3 will come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865  the brand said in a press statement. The smartphone is also touted to feature an “enhanced” camera and “long-lasting” battery life as well as deliver an “unmatched” gaming experience.
Apart from the jargon, iQoo hasn't provided any details around the new smartphone. Some recent teasers posted on Weibo, however, revealed that the iQoo 3 will sport a quad rear camera setup with a 48-megapixel primary sensor and include UFS 3.1 storage.
Purported live image of the iQoo 3 also suggested a hole-punch display design along with an in-display fingerprint sensor. Further, the smartphone is likely to have as much as up to 12GB of RAM and could come with 55W fast charging support.
“The brand new iQoo 3 is built to satisfy the high-performance requirements of technology-savvy consumers and we truly believe that this will elevate the user's smartphone experience,” said Aditya Soni - Senior Director, Mobiles at Flipkart, while highlighting the partnership with iQoo in the joint statement.
Additionally, Flipkart is teasing iQoo 3 through a couple of microsites. Both microsites highlighted performance-focussed features of the new smartphone alongside specifying February 17 as a date for some kind of revelation.
Last month, iQoo announced its debut in India with the 5G flagship that will emerge as the iQoo 3. iQoo India Director - Marketing Gagan Arora in a conversation with Gadgets 360 had said that the first smartphone model by the company would run Android 10 out-of-the-box -- with a localised interface on top.
iQoo initially entered the smartphone market as a sub-brand of Vivo last year. However, the India part of the brand doesn't want to be associated with the Chinese company and is set up as a separate legal entity in the country. The brand would leverage Vivo's manufacturing facility, though.
India launch of the iQoo 3 is expected to take place after the phone debuts in China on February 25 . The company revealed the China launch schedule through a teaser recently posted on Weibo.

Oppo Reno 3 Pro With Dual Hole-Punch Selfie Camera Teased on Amazon, Flipkart Ahead of India Launch

Oppo Reno 3 Pro India launch has been teased through Amazon and Flipkart. The new Oppo phone is set to debut in the Indian market with a dual hole-punch selfie camera setup. Originally, the Oppo Reno 3 Pro was launched in China late last year in a 5G variant, while its India model recently gets an official confirmation with only 4G support. The smartphone is also touted to come to the country with some “Expert Camera credentials”. The presence of the dual hole-punch camera on the Oppo Reno 3 Pro would help provide bokeh effect to selfies.
Amazon and Flipkart both have created dedicated microsites to tease the launch of the Oppo Reno 3 Pro  in India. The teasers on the microsites confirm the presence of a dual hole-punch selfie camera that is unlike the Reno 3 Pro model launched in China that had a single hole-punch selfie camera module.
“Introducing Dual Punch Hole Camera in Oppo Reno 3 Pro. It helps create dream-like images with Dual Lens Bokeh,” reads the text provided alongside the teaser available on Flipkart.
The India version of the Oppo Reno 3 Pro will come with a Binocular Bokeh Effect that will produce sharp edges along with a gradient background. Earlier this week, Tasleem Arif, Vice President and India R&D Head of Oppo, revealed the launch of the Reno 3 Pro and highlighted its Expert Camera credentials. Arif through his tweet also stated that the new phone would debut with 4G specifications in India -- unlike the China version of the Reno 3 Pro that has 5G support out-of-the-box.
Alongside the teasers available on Amazon and Flipkart, the Oppo India website also carries a listing with identical teaser images and text. A video starring Bollywood actor Vidyut Jammwal has also been posted on the Oppo India YouTube channel to put an emphasis on the dual selfie camera of the Reno 3 Pro.
A recent report suggesting the dual hole-punch selfie camera on the Oppo Reno 3 Pro claimed that the phone would come with a 44-megapixel primary sensor. It is also speculated to launch in the country as early as this month.
The Oppo Reno 3 Pro was launched in China with a price tag of CNY 3,999 (roughly Rs. 41,000) for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant, while its 12GB RAM + 256GB storage option carried a price tag of CNY 4,499 (roughly Rs. 46,000). However, the pricing details of the India version are yet to be revealed.
Oppo brought the Reno 3 Pro in China with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC that has an integrated 5G model. It is unclear whether the India version would include a different chip over what was launched in China to debut with 4G specifications.

Lenovo's Legion Brand Teases Snapdragon 865 SoC for Upcoming Gaming-Centric Phone

Lenovo recently set up a new Weibo account for its Legion sub-brand, and teased the arrival of a gaming-centric phone. Well, the Legion Weibo handle has now dropped a new teaser post revealing that a gaming smartphone powered by Qualcomm's top-of-the-line Snapdragon 865 SoC is in the pipeline. Unfortunately, that's all we know regarding the upcoming Legion-branded gaming smartphone when it comes to its key internal specifications. It is worth mentioning here that Lenovo was among the earliest brands to announce plans of launching a phone with Snapdragon 865 SoC following the chipset's debut.
The Weibo post only mentions the arrival of a Snapdragon 865-powered phone. Going through the Legion Weibo account's timeline does not reveal any other information regarding the upcoming phone, and no credible leaks have surfaced either. It appears that Lenovo is trying to replicate the Asus mantra here. The latter leveraged its in-house Republic of Gamers (ROG) brand value and launched the first and second generation ROG Phone . Lenovo is looking to do something similar with its Legion brand that caters primarily to gamers, and will apparently go all out with its upcoming Legion-branded gaming - centric Legion-branded phone.
Lenovo has not had a particularly successful run with its smartphone portfolio in India, but the company has remained fairly active in China with the launch of high-end smartphones under the Lenovo Z-series. However, the Lenovo Z-series phones are well-rounded flagships and are not targeted at mobile gaming enthusiasts in particular. That might change with the upcoming Legion gaming smartphone. And as is the case with other gaming smartphones out there, we can expect a high refresh-rate panel (90Hz or 120Hz), ample amount of RAM (most likely the new LPDDR5 module), the latest UFS storage standard, and of course, an aggressive design language to go with its whole gaming phone appeal.

Tesla Recalls 15,000 Model X SUVs for Power Steering Issue in North America

Tesla is recalling 15,000 Model X SUVs because of a potential issue that can lead to a loss of power steering assist that could make steering harder and increase the risk of a crash.
The National highway traffic safety administration (NHTSA) and Transport Canada said aluminium bolts that attach the electric power steering gear assist motor to the gear housing may corrode and break causing a reduction or complete loss of power steering assist.
The recall applies to 2016 model year X vehicles. Tesla said the vehicles being recalled include most Model X vehicles built before mid-October 2016, but the move does not affect vehicles built after that date. Tesla issued a similar recall in March 2018 for 123,000 Model S vehicles worldwide built before April 2016 that called for replacing steering assist motor bolts.
NHTSA said there are no known crashes or injuries associated with the Model X recall. The recall covers 14,193 US vehicles and 843 in Canada. Tesla will arrange for the replacement of the mounting bolts and will also replace the steering gear if needed, Transport Canada said.
Tesla said it has "observed excessive corrosion on the bolts that attach this component to the steering gear in affected Model X vehicles" and primarily in areas with very cold climates that use road salts. Tesla said if the bolts fail it would require "more force to turn the steering wheel, especially during low speed parking manoeuvres."
Tesla said it was not aware of any injuries or collisions relating to the power steering component.
Tesla added drivers can continue to operate their Model X SUVs before the issue is addressed. Tesla said it will contact owners to schedule appointments when parts are available.
Tesla said it will also apply a corrosion-preventative sealer in all affected Model X vehicles to account for the possibility that vehicles may later be used in cold climates.
Tesla did not respond to a request for comment.

In addition to the camera, Nikon India has also launched two new lenses — the Nikkor Z 20mm, an ultra-wide-angle prime lens, and the Nikkor Z 24-200mm zoom lens.

Nikon D6 price in India

Nikon D6  has been priced at Rs. 5,19,995 (body-only) in India, with no word on the exact release date in the country. Sales of these lenses are expected to begin from April 2020.

Nikon D6 features

Talking about the camera first, as mentioned above, the new Nikon D6 features a 20.8-megapixel CMOS sensor which combined with all-selectable cross sensor 105-point AF lets you capture moments at approximately 14fps with AF/AE tracking. At the helm is the Expeed 6 image-processing engine that helps in capturing high-resolution images with less noise, even at high ISO settings, so that the subject appears sharper in the end result. Speaking of which, the Expeed 6 image-processing engine also helps to reproduce human skin tones in clarity. For low-light situations, the camera supports an ISO sensitivity of 102400.
The connectivity options on the Nikon D6 include built-in Wi-Fi and WT-6 transmitters, that ensures quicker and more versatile methods of uploading images, along with a port for wired LAN, which supports 1000BASE-T standard and achieves approximately 15 percent faster communication. The camera is further supported by the SnapBridge app to help make transferring RAW files to smart devices easier.
The Nikon D6 comes in heat, weather, and dust-resistant package offering the highest level of durability. Additionally, the camera supports usage of XQD and CFexpress memory card and according to the company has dependably long battery life.
Moving on, the company has also announced the launch of two new lenses in its Nikkor Z line-up. The second lens is the Nikkor Z 24-200mm f/4 - 6.3 VR lens, which is a lightweight and versatile zoom lens. This lens allows for shooting a great diversity of scenes including landscapes, portraits and close-ups.

WhatsApp Crosses 2 Billion Users Milestone, Defends Encryption

The Facebook-owned messaging service WhatsApp said Wednesday it now has more than two billion users around the world as it reaffirmed its commitment to strong encryption to protect privacy.
WhatsApp, acquired by Facebook in 2014, has grown into one of the most widely used services in the Facebook "family" of apps, offering free messaging along with voice and video calls.
"Private conversations that once were only possible face-to-face can now take place across great distances through instant chats and video calling," a WhatsApp blog post said.
There are so many significant and special moments that take place over WhatsApp and we are humbled and honored to reach this milestone."
The statement said WhatsApp remained committed to its "strong encryption" that enables users to connect privately even amid calls by law enforcement in the United States and elsewhere to provide more access.
"Strong encryption is a necessity in modern life. We will not compromise on security because that would make people less safe," WhatsApp said.
"For even more protection, we work with top security experts, employ industry leading technology to stop misuse as well as provide controls and ways to report issues -- without sacrificing privacy."
The social network is working to extend end-to-end encryption across its messaging applications, including Facebook Messenger and Instagram.
Back door dilemma
Child protection groups have expressed fears that stronger encryption of online exchanges would facilitate the sharing of child pornography.
Backers of strong encryption argue that any special access or "backdoors" allowed for law enforcement would weaken security and could be exploited by criminals, hackers and authoritarian governments.
Officials from the US, Britain and Australia late last year called on Facebook to allow authorities to circumvent encryption to better fight extremism, child pornography and other crimes.
The heads of Facebook's WhatsApp and Messenger, Will Cathcart and Stan Chudnovsky, responded in a letter to officials from the three countries that allowing this kind of "backdoor" access "would be a gift to criminals, hackers and repressive regimes" while leaving users vulnerable.
Facebook's stance on encryption has been backed by more than 100 activist organizations, security experts and industry groups who warned against efforts to force tech companies to weaken encryption.
Despite its strong encryption, WhatsApp has seen flaws exploited in cyberspace.
Human rights activists have said that spyware hidden in WhatsApp messages, possible developed by Israel-based NSO Group, was used to track dissidents and others.
Amazon chief Jeff Bezos's phone is also believed to have been infected by spyware hidden in a WhatsApp message from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman.
WhatsApp in October sued NSO Group, accusing it of using the messaging service to conduct cyberespionage on journalists, human rights activists and others.
Breakup?
WhatsApp is one member of the Facebook app "family" that includes its core social network, Instagram and Messenger.
Facebook said recently some 2.89 billion people globally are daily users of at least one of these services.
But the growth has also attracted attention of regulators and activists concerned over the dominance of major tech platforms. Presidential hopeful Elizabeth Warren has been among those calling for the breakup of the big technology firms.
Facebook has argued against the idea of a breakup, saying the company is better able to keep its services safe and secure with a unified infrastructure.

Oppo A31 Render Leak Tips Triple Rear Camera Setup, Key Specifications

Chinese smartphone maker Oppo is reportedly working on a new budget smartphone called the Oppo A31. This new smartphone was spotted on Bluetooth SIG certification site last month revealing a few key specifications about the upcoming smartphone. More specifications have now been reported along with a render of the upcoming smartphone. Thanks to the render, we know that the new smartphone will pack a triple camera setup along with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.
The news of the leaked renders of the Oppo A31 was posted by 91mobiles which claims to have got the information from a reliable tipster. The Oppo A31 is said to sport a 6.5-inch display and pack in a 4,230mAh battery. The render that 91mobiles received shows the phone will have a waterdrop notch at the front. It also reveals a triple camera setup at the back along with a fingerprint sensor.
The Oppo A31 is said to come in three colour options - Fantasy White, Lake Green, and Mystery Black. Tipster Ishan Agarwal has also revealed to 91mobiles that the Oppo A31 will be powered by a MediaTek Helio P35 SoC and will ship with Android 9 instead of Android 10. This information contradicts a recent Oppo A31 listing on Geekbench which revealed that the new smartphone will sport a MediaTek Helio P90 SoC and run Android 10. So we will take the new information with a pinch of salt. The device is said to come in 4GB and 6GB RAM variants paired with 64GB and 128GB of storage respectively.
The triple camera at the back is said to comprise a 16-megapixel primary shooter, a 2-megapixel depth sensor, and a macro camera. For selfies, it is said to sport an 8-megapixel camera positioned in the dew-drop notch. With such details emerging, it is likely that the launch of the smartphone isn't far away.

Realme 6 Wi-Fi Alliance Listing Reveals MediaTek Helio G90T SoC

Realme 6 and its more powerful pro variant were recently certified by IMDA in Singapore, hinting that the two phones' debut is on the horizon. Now, the two upcoming Realme phones have been certified by Wi-Fi Alliance. The Wi-Fi Alliance's database has also revealed a few details about the Realme 6 aka RMX2001 and the Realme 6 Pro carrying the model number RMX2061. The Realme 6 is tipped to pack a MediaTek SoC, while the Realme 6 Pro is said to run Android 10 on the software side.
The Realme 6's Wi-Fi Alliance listing mentions support for 2.4GHz and 5GHz network bands, while its connectivity portfolio includes Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/a/ac alongside the WPA2 security standard. More importantly, the Realme 6's listing on the database clearly mentions MT6785T in the hardware version. In case you don't know, MT6785T is the internal model number of the MediaTek Helio G90T SoC. The new gaming-centric octa-core MediaTek SoC was launched back in July last year and it packs ARM Cortex-A76 and Cortex-A55 CPU cores, while graphics are handled by the Mali-G76 3EEMC4 GPU.
As for the phone itself, Realme 6 is tipped to pack a 4,300mAh battery, however, there is no information on the fast charging output. Realme 6's dimensions are 162.1 x 74.8 x 9.6mm and it will weigh 191 grams. The phone will come with support for Bluetooth 5.0 (BR+EDR+BLE standard) as well. However, we are yet to come across any official teaser or confirmation regarding the arrival of Realme 6 series of phones
Talking about the Realme 6 series, the more powerful Realme 6 Pro has also been spotted on the Wi-Fi Alliance database after receiving the IMDA certification. The Realme 6 Pro's Wi-Fi Alliance listing mentions the model number RMX2061 and lists support for dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n//ac standard, complete with WPA2 compatibility. The phone is listed as running Android 10, most likely with ColorOS skin on top and the Realme UI makeover. The Realme 6 series phones are tipped to ditch the notch and might sport a hole-punch design.

Microsoft Promises Superfast Windows 10X Updates, Releases Emulator

Microsoft is hard at work to meet its holiday 2020 launch date for Windows 10X, a new operating system for foldable and dual screen devices. At its Microsoft 365 Developer Day event, the company shared several updates on the new version of Windows 10 along with the launch of a Windows 10X emulator. The emulator will allow users to develop and test apps for this new platform. Those who are members of the Windows Insider program can download the emulator though the Windows Insider Preview SDK.
According to a report by Bleeping Computer, in order to improve the performance of Windows 10X devices, Microsoft is making Web, Win32, and Universal Windows Platform (UWP) apps run in containers. These containers will have a lightweight version of Windows (Win32) which will be used by the apps that need it. The tipster, who goes by the username WalkingCat shared the presentation on Twitter which shows there are three types of containers, namely Win32, Native (UWP), and MSIX. The Win32 containers will be able to run all Win32 apps on 10X.
Microsoft has also promised quicker updates on Windows 10X. The company claims the updates will take less than 90 seconds by simply switching to latest OS update at reboot, reports The Verge.
Coming to the emulator, Microsoft claims it will allow developers to test their apps and see how they would run on Windows 10X on the Surface Duo and Surface Neo. One caveat is that AMD processors are not supported by the emulator as of now. There are some hardware and software requirements that users must meet in order to get the emulator running.
Thanks to leaks and rumours, we know Windows 10X will have a new interface where Microsoft has tweaked the placement of some core components. The Start menu in Windows 10X will be an icon-based Launcher, more akin to the Android. There is a new Action Center to give users quick access to important system settings. Microsoft is also include the ‘Wonder Bar' that gives quick access to emojis, a virtual touchpad, a GIF selector, etc.
