Vivo V19, Vivo V19 Pro With Hole-Punch Design, Dual Front Cameras to Launch in India Next Month: Report

Vivo V19 and Vivo V19 Pro are in the rumour mill again. To recall, the Vivo V19 series was recently rumoured to kick off the pre-registration process for the upcoming Vivo V19 series phones in February, with an official launch reportedly planned for March. Now, a new leak has shed some light on the design of the upcoming camera-centric Vivo phones. If the fresh leak turns out to be true, the Vivo V19 series will ditch the pop-up camera solution we saw on the V17 Pro. Instead, Vivo will go with a dual hole-punch design on the Vivo V19 and the Vivo V19 Pro.
As per a 91Mobiles report , the Vivo V19 and Vivo V19 Pro  will sport a hole-punch design and dual selfie cameras. Unfortunately, there is no word on the resolution of the front cameras. The presence of two selfie shooters suggests that the punch-hole will most likely be pill-shaped akin to what we've already seen on the POCO X2 and the Samsung Galaxy S10+ . But it remains to be seen whether Vivo actually opts for two closely placed circular holes for each selfie sensor connected by a faux dark region to look like a pill, or if it will actually be a pill-shaped hole drilled on the glass panel.
Earlier this month, it was reported that Vivo will begin the pre-registration process for Vivo V19  and V19 Pro smartphones late in February, and plans to launch them in March, just in time for IPL 2020. Vivo will sponsor this year's edition of the marquee cricket tournament in the country, so it makes sense that the company will launch two of its new camera-centric phones around the same time for marketing leverage. We are yet to hear an official announcement from Vivo regarding the launch of Vivo V19 and V19 Pro, but they are rumoured to be priced in the Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 30,000 ballpark in India

OnePlus patent reveals phone with no notch, hole-punch or pop-up camera

  • Phone within design shows no notch or pop-up selfie camera of any kind
  • Could signal OnePlus adopting Oppo's invisible in-display camera
  • Rear cameras also hidden away when not in use
  • A OnePlus patent has surfaced online indicating a new design for a possible future smartphone, and it shows a device with no visible front facing camera and a rear camera that can be hidden away.
The front of the device features a huge, edge-to-edge display with really slim bezels and no intrusion of any kind for a selfie camera. That means no notch, and no hole-punch cutout. Looking at the top edge in the images, there's seemingly no pop-up camera either which begs the question: where is it?
  • There are a couple of possible explanations for that. It could be making use of a hidden in-display front camera, which wouldn't be all that surprising given that Oppo - its sister company - has shown off  a working demo of that exact technology. So we know that's a possibility.
On the other hand, it may just be a small detail left out of the patent design drawings. Looking around the edges of the phone, the only detail drawn is the USB-C port. There's no indication of any buttons, speaker grilles or ports of any other kind.
It's possible this is a design for an innovative port-less and traditional speaker-less phone, similar to others concept smartphones  we've seen in the past. It's also possible the details weren't seen as necessary to include, since the patent seems more focussed on the rear camera mechanism.

With that said, the majority of patent images like this do include antenna lines, cameras, buttons and ports in them to be accurate, and so it may be OnePlus is genuinely working on a phone with no buttons and an invisible selfie camera.
Until 2020, we'd have thought OnePlus wasn't in the business of building this kind of innovative and concept-type device, but we know the manufacturer is capable of it now.
Early in 2020 OnePlus launched the Concept One ; a phone with colour-shifting electrochromic glass panel over the cameras which hide the lenses from view.
Which brings us nicely to the cameras on the back of the patent image. While they're in view at times, the cameras also have the ability to be hidden.
Unlike the electrochromic glass on the Concept One which uses varying voltages to switch from transparent to translucent, this appears to have a cover which slides over the top of the rear cameras, as pointed out by LetsGoDigital who published the images .
It's something we've not seen on a phone camera for many a year, but back in the days before the all-touch smartphone revolution began, that was relatively common place.
Phones like the Sony Ericsson K850i  and Nokia N73  had plastic lens covers, but that kind of approach seems dated and lacking in elegance, given the look and design of modern ultra-premium smartphones.
It's hard to say how exactly OnePlus will hide the cameras on the back of this phone, and we don't know if the company is even planning on launching this particular device. Even the patent images reveal the company is looking at a few different designs and methods of hiding them.

iQoo 3 TENAA Listing Reveals 64-Megapixel Quad Rear Camera Setup, 12GB of RAM

iQoo, Chinese smartphone maker Vivo's sub-brand that specialises in making gaming-centric phones, recently announced plans to launch a 5G flagship phone in India as an independent brand - confirmed to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC. The phone was recently spotted on the 3C database, carrying the model number V1955A and 55W charging support in tow. Heavily rumoured to debut as the iQoo 3, the phone has now received the TENAA certification in China, revealing some of its key specifications in the process. The iQoo 3 will pack a quad rear camera setup that includes a 64-megapixel main snapper and a 16-megapixel front camera.

The iQoo 3's TENAA listing says that the upcoming flagship phone, which is set to have its global launch in India, will pack a 6.44-inch full-HD+ (1080 x 2400 pixels) AMOLED display. It will be supported by a 4,370mAh battery, and as per the  3C listing, will offer 55W fast charging support. It will draw power from an octa-core processor clocked at 2.84GHz, which is most likely the Snapdragon 865 SoC, since 2.84GHz is the frequency listed on the chipset's  official product listing on Qualcomm's website. Also, the iQoo 3 is going to be a 5G flagship phone, so the Snapdragon 865 SoC is a no-brainer here.
The top-of-the-line Qualcomm SoC will be paired with 6GB, 8GB, or 12GB of RAM, and 128GB or 256GB of internal storage based on the configuration. Talking about the cameras, the iQoo 3  is said to pack a quad rear camera setup that goes like this - 64-megapixel + 13-megapixel + 13-megapixel + 2- megapixel. While the role of each sensor is not revealed, we expect it to include a regular RGB snapper, a wide-angle lens, a macro shooter, and a depth sensor or a telephoto lens. On the front sits a 16-megapixel shooter for selfies and video calls.

Oppo Find X2 Launch Set for February 22 in Barcelona Ahead of MWC 2020

Oppo Find X2 has been in the rumour mill for a while now, and the company has now sent out press invites for its launch event. Oppo is hosting a pre-MWC 2020 event in Barcelona, and the invite reveals that the Oppo Find X2 phone will be unveiled at this event. The successor of the Oppo Find X2 is tipped to pack a 2K display with 120Hz refresh rate, latest Snapdragon 865 SoC, 65W Super VOOC fast charging support, and much more.
The invite has been sent out to foreign media, and it clearly states that the company is looking to launch the Oppo Find X2 . The launch event is set for February 22 later this month in Barcelona. The pre-MWC event will begin at 2pm local time (6:30pm IST), and will be held in the Auditori Forum CCIB in Barcelona. The MWC 2020 is slated to be held from February 24 to February 27, and Oppo will also be displaying the phone at its booth in Hall 3. The invite was shared  by GSMArena first.
At Oppo Inno Day 2019, the company confirmed that it will launch the Oppo Find X2 in Q1 2020. Oppo Vice President and President of Global Sales Alen Wu also said that the phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 865 SoC.
Apart from this, the phone is tipped to sport a 6.5-inch QHD+ curved OLED display along with 120Hz refresh rate. It is also rumoured to support 65W Super VOOC fast charging – currently the fastest wired charging tech offered by the company. Only the Oppo Reno Ace has support for 65W Super VOOC fast charging for now, and Oppo Find X2 is rumoured to be the second device to support it.
With the Find X2, Oppo looks to bring reforms to smartphone display, so we speculate it to introduce industry-standard resolution, refresh rate, and dynamic range. Furthermore, the predecessor Oppo Find X had a unique sliding mechanism that revealed the front and back cameras only when needed. An innovation on the placement of the cameras could be expected on the Oppo Find X2 as well. There's little information regarding the design of the phone as of now, but we expect more details to surface as launch date nears.

Motorola Edge+ Flagship With Curved Hole-Punch Display Appears in Alleged Live Images, Specifications Also Leaked

Motorola recently confirmed that the company will soon launch phones powered by Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 865 SoC and the mid-range Snapdragon 765 SoC. Rumours of a Motorola flagship touted to debut as Motorola Edge+ have been swirling around for a while, and now, we might have our first look at it. Alleged live images of Motorola's upcoming phone have surfaced online, and they reveal a dramatically curved display with a hole-punch camera. Additionally, some of the key specifications of Motorola's upcoming flagship have also surfaced online.
The leaked images and specifications come courtesy of an XDA-Developers report. The upcoming Motorola Flashship Phone is reportedly codenamed ‘burton' or ‘racer turbo'. It will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC and will reportedly come in 8GB and 12GB RAM variants. The phone will come equipped with a 5,170mAh battery, but there is no word on fast charging output. It is said to run Android 10, most likely with a stock interface with a few in-house tweaks.
Talking about the leaked images, they show a dramatically curved panel, the likes of which we have earlier come across on the Vivo Next 3 and the Huawei Mate 30 Pro . But there are a couple of differences – the Motorola phone's display slopes more gently towards the edges and it retains the physical volume buttons as well. It will reportedly pack a 5,169mAh battery, but fast charging output is not confirmed.
There is a single front camera housed in a hole-punch placed at the top-left corner, while the panel has full-HD+ (1080 x 2340 pixels) resolution with a 6.67-inch diagonal. However, the size of the hole-punch is noticeably smaller than those on the Motorola One series phones. The report says that the Motorola flagship might eventually debut as ‘ Motorola Edge+' in the US market. The upcoming phone will come with a handful of new software features such as Moto Edge Assistant, Moto Gametime, and Moto Audio.
Motorola also has a mid-range phone in the pipeline with the codename ‘racer 5G', and it might eventually debut as the Motorola One 2020. This phone is said to pack a 6.67-inch curved full-HD+ (1080 x 2340 pixels) display. The Motorola offering will reportedly be powered by the Snapdragon 765or its gaming-centric Snapdragon 765G  sibling. It will be paired with 6GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, and a 4,660mAh battery. The mid-range Motorola One 2020 is said to pack a 48-megapixel camera with NFC support and Android 10 on the software side.

Oppo Reno 3 Pro Global Variant in Blue Leaked Ahead of India Launch

Chinese smartphone maker Oppo is gearing up to launch the Reno 3 Pro in India. The company had launched these smartphones in China late last year but it is expected to reach the Indian markets soon. Rumours hint that the smartphone is expected to launch in the third week of February 2020. A fresh image of the inbound smartphone leaked earlier this week shows the Oppo Reno 3 Pro in blue colour, similar to the one launched in China.
The fresh leak was courtesy serial tipster Ishan Agarwal, who tweeted the image of the upcoming smartphone. The leaks have also claimed that India will be the first country to get the global version of the Oppo Reno 3  Pro. From the leaked shot we can see that the device will sport a glass back with a gradient finish. The sides of the phone are curved which should make it easy to hold in the hand. Based on the image, it looks like the camera module is on the top left side of the smartphone but the details are unknown at the moment.

A previous leak of the Oppo Reno 3 Pro revealed a dual hole-punch display which houses the dual selfie cameras. The same leak also pointed at a 44-megapixel selfie shooter. The other could be a depth sensor to assist the primary shooter. Oppo had revealed the Reno 3 Pro in China with a single hole-
There are no details about the specifications of the Oppo Reno 3 Pro at the moment. However, we do know that the Oppo Reno 3 Pro launched in China was powered by a Snapdragon 765G SoC. With the launch expected to take place later this month, we wouldn't have to wait for a really long time to find out.
